River City Church was planted as First Baptist Church in 1853 as a pioneering movement of ten men and women, meeting in the home of Asa Fletcher, who felt called by God to begin a church in the new “village” of Minneapolis. It was a rugged and inspiring beginning. If you would like to learn more about our history, we encourage you to visit our history site.
The Lord has brought us through many adventures as a church, and we are now in a season of replanting, having sold our church home of over 130 years in downtown Minneapolis, and replanting in the Twin Cities.
As we replant our church, we are well aware that many will be curious about who we are, what our mission is, and why we’re choosing to replant. We believe that God has work for us to do here in the Twin Cities. As a community, we want to share the hope of the gospel with our weary world, and that starts here in Minneapolis.
We pray that as you learn about who we are, that you would be encouraged to pray for us, tell your friends and family, and consider joining us. Our church has open arms to all who are weary and needing rest.
May the light of the gospel shine brightly here in the twin cities and beyond.
