This year, River City Church is seeking to capture 100 TESTIMONIES. These testimonies (or stories) can be about when we initially put our faith in Jesus or about God's ongoing faithfulness to us.
Capturing a testimony can look like submitting a written copy to a staff member, or home group leader, or submitting a copy digitally (keep scrolling to access our digital resource guide). Capturing a testimony can also look like sharing a story publicly on a Sunday morning, at a Home Group gathering, or by having it recorded to be shared via our social media platforms.
Sharing our testimonies takes preparation. We receive the exhortation from the Scriptures to “always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks [us] for a reason for the hope that is in [us]" with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15).
We hope that the resources below can help you prepare and practice to give a reason for the hope that is in you.
Please keep in mind that writing out these stories may take you some time. We'd encourage you to set aside half an hour, or more, for writing a testimony of initial faith in Jesus. Testimonies of God's ongoing faithfulness can take less time depending the nature of the story you share. This may seem like a lot of work, but we believe it's important and necessary work for building our confidence in sharing about God's work in our lives.
